    Is this a legal contract?

Advised document was in in an agreed form, and requested it be signed, witnessed and returned 2 months ago. Now I have just been advised another amendment is required which I had previously requested be deleted and seemingly it had been agreed upon. Their solicitor is now advising it was a misunderstanding on his behalf with his clients, and wishes to reinstate the clause which I am not happy about and will not agree to. As the contract was in agreed form is it legal or not? Thank you for any help.

Without knowing what the document is and says, we can only speculate. Based on what you've said it sounds like it is legally binding otherwise the solicitor wouldn't be asking for an amendment to it. Sounds like he/she has made a cock up by not including it so unless there's anything in the signed document that says you must agree to have deleted clause reinstated for the signed document to be legally binding, there isn't an obligation to do so.
