  • Family Court Judge invited parties to apply for removal of PR.

In a Family Court Issues Resolution Hearing, the Judge proactively invited other parties to make application to remove the Parental Responsibility of one of the parties to the case. Is it normal/appropriate for a Judge, who is meant to be impartial to encourage parties to make specific applications?

    1. Bear in mind that s1(1) Children Act 1989 makes it clear that the welfare of the child is the court's paramount concern.

    2. There is clearly a lot more going on in this case than you have disclosed in two sentences.

Of course there is a lot more. I cannot disclose detail because Family Court matters are confidential - so I can only give a brief question - and it would take hours at any rate.
