  • Adoption section 76

Hi, we have adopted a child with various disabilities and challenging behaviour. After 8 years we have decided we needed some respite. Our child was placed in a short term foster respite placement under a voluntary 76 (England section20) whereby we retained full parental responsibility. We phoned the school on the first day and stated we would still like to be informed of any information regarding our child. For three weeks we didnít hear anything from the school. We emailed them today and they stated that they had been in regular contact with the foster carer and the foster carer has been regularly contacting the school. We are upset and cross that the school didnít contact us (the parents) but rather have been ghosting us and treating the foster carer like the parent.

i wondered if legally any violations have occurred. Are the school in breach of data protection discussing our child with somebody without parental responsibility? Hope somebody can help.

It would appear from your post; no laws have been breached and hurt feelings are not actionable.
