Started working for a firm in 2017 and got job description on starting day. A new role was created in 2022 and I took it. It was totally different from my original roll. I was never given a job description but one was read out to me before I accepted the new role. I recently asked for the job description and was told I couldn't have one. I put in a subject access request for the job description and they refused saying it's not personal information. The reason I want the job description is because they keep making do tasks that were never mentioned when I took on the role and I'm sure they are not part of my job. Can the refuse to give me a job description? Thanks

It is a not a legal requirement for an employer to provide a job description. I would suggest that you as they do not seem willing to provide one you request, in writing, for them to provide you with written clarification of the duties and responsibilities of your role. This puts the onus back on them.

The only problem with that is, they can just say my job includes anything now, unlike the original job description for the role which I saw at the time.Comment
