I am a former employee of an organisation that manages finances and legal instruments for vulnerable adults.
Despite leaving the organisation over a decade ago it has been it has been an ongoing battle to get myself removed from accounts, trusts , LPAS etc . I left in 2014 and after a lot of back and forth I was told I was removed from all trusts , LPAS, EPAS and accounts by 2020 ( I had no insight into anything going on internally since I left but cooperated with requests and chased up the removals) Then I was contacted in 2023 re more accounts and then again in July 2025 saying I am still a trustee on a discretionary trust . I am so worried about any liability , I have no confidence that this is will be the end of it. The organisation are quite dismissive of my concerns and just focus on getting me removed but will that stop backdated liability ?. It has caused countless hours of work as I email, try and research the possible risks and look for support . I have no formal legal or financial training and this has caused me so much stress over the past decade and has been a drain on my time and energy
If anyone has any words of wisdom , it would be really appreciated - I am going round in circles!
Any guidance would be appreciated. thank you

If anyone has any words of wisdom , it would be really appreciated - I am going round in circles!
- What duty of care do they owe to an ex‑employee who was left on legal/financial instruments long after leaving?
- Could I face any liability for actions taken on these instruments during the years I was unknowingly still named?
- Am I within my rights to insist on independent legal advice that spans all the issues before signing anything further?
- What steps should I take now to protect myself, given the lack of documentation and clarity?
Any guidance would be appreciated. thank you
