  • Return to work: Working away during Covid19 & safety

Returning to work on 1st July, employer has already booked me in for a job that will require 4 nights away in a hotel in the UK, my wife was in the vulnerable shielding category list for Covid19 whilst restrictions were in place and I myself had respiratory failure & ended up in a coma in 2010 from a different pandemic virus.¬* I assumed my boss would at least discuss meals and social distancing but is saying I have to eat breakfast & dinner with him at the hotel restaurant can I refuse this and order takeaways to my room to avoid unnecessary further contact with him & others?

An employer has a duty to ensure the health and safety of its employees and given the situation of your wife and your health and COVID-19 then in my view what you are requesting should be considered as reasonable.¬*
I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
If you have any doubts then do please seek professional legal advice.
