  • Lowells taken over a debt .Does the 6 year rule apply

My sister in law had an issue with a catalogue ( JDWlliams ) who claimed she missed payment and added interest . She disputed this and had done so for may years . JD continued to send demands to her adding interest from £10 to 320. She refuses to pay it on a matter of principal . I wrote to JD williams on her behalf advising this debt was not due and to to take her to court and she will argue the case in person, I also advised JD not to make further contact unless they were willing to do this.. We heard no more until Lowells contact her requesting the money so it would appear JD had sold the debt on ... My question : Is the debt time taken from when the debt was disputed or from Lowells taking it over ? Should a letter be sent to Lowells advising they have not got permission to continue the harrassment of the debt and to take the matter to court if they feel justified that there is a case to answer I think the 6 years is up in september 2019 ... any suggestions please

Ignore them up till that point September and the debt them become statue barred Lowell’s can’t touch you. I avoided them for over 2 years so I’m sure if you ignore all letters for 6 months you’ll be fine
