  • Obtaining a Court Order for incomplete SAR in Northern Ireland

I submitted a SAR to a large international company with UK offices. The company is registered with the regulator in Luxembourg.

The company initially refused to accept the written request and asked me to send the request to their legal team by mail in the UK. I insisted that a written request to any employee of the company was a valid request and refused to submit separately. They then accepted it was a valid request. They then failed to respond within the legal time frame, responding two days late. The information was compiled less than 12 hrs before being sent and after I prompted them it was late. The information was incomplete and parts were unintelligible.

The company has refused to provide further information it holds despite the information being personal. They have informed me they will only provide the other information if I obtain a court order - which I had already stated I would obtain against the company and the directors should they not wish to comply with providing the SAR in full. The company refuse to discuss the matter.

This would be the fourth SAR submitted to this company. The first was incomplete and a complaint is with the CNPD in Luxembourg. The second they stated they held no information on the specific request. The third provided the specific information requested - and it also included information which they said was not held in the second SAR.

*Whilst I have submitted many Small Claims in Northern Ireland - I am unsure of the process to obtain a court order in Northern Ireland. Is it possible to complete personally?
