  • Is this court claim fake?

    Hi all,

I am in England. I received a N1SDT claim form in an email sent by a business i have dispute with. I tried to search claim no. in Money Claim Online page but it says claim no. is not valid. Also the form has below weird points:
    • There is no date (blank) in the Issue Date field
    • There is water mark 'reference copy'
    • No court address and court phone, no court seal.
    • Claim password is 'XXXXXXXX'.

Is this likely a fake claim form?

If it's likely still valid, should I wait for court to post me a formal before action or acknowledge?

    Thanks

From what you say, it seems dodgy.

Hi, atticus thanks for quick response. Do you think the issue date shouldn't be blank if claim number is present? That's what I think. Also, even if this is a copy from claimant, shouldn't the form contain exactly same content as the court copy, like including court seal, address, phone number, and valid password?

I am confused. The claim number seems invalid. Can I call small claim court to verify?

What happens sometimes, is that the other party will send a 'dummy' claim form in the hope that you will pay the alleged debt and they will take you to Court.

echat11 Hi, what do you mean "and they will take you to Court"?

There is a reason why they've sent a 'dummy claim form' i.e. telling you it's heading to court proceedings.

I don't know what they are going to do, but there would be no point in sending a 'dummy claim form'.
