I had a (same Tavistock branch) Bradford and Bingley a/c for 0ver 30 years; the last 14 years having to use a box number at my local sorting office for personal (protection) reasons - which B&B accepted, sending all their mail to it.
When B&B was to change to Santander, I was promised my account would be TRANSFERRED (repeat, TRANSFERRED!) to Santander once the outllet had been refurbished. This was reneged as, despite exactly the same staff, etc. all of a sudden I was not recognised as I did not fit the Santander "protocol". Ie, I didn't have a passpsort, swiss identity, gun licence etc. I had a Disabled Blue Badge with photo, signature, expiry date, etc. This wasn't "protocol". [I strongly opinion my state pension/no savings didn't fit Santander "protocol".
BEARING IN MIND FSA AGREED EXISTING CUSTOMERS DO NOT HAVE TO PROVE IDENTITY, I complained to FOS; who EVENTUALLY replied that Santander refuses to give you a new account. I wrote back correcting FOS assume. Another person at FOS parroted the first erroneous assume. I wrote again, and again, and again each time trying to correct each time FOS made the same ASSUME!
FOS then submitted their "decision" (sic) that (surprise!) as Santander has refused to give me a 'new account', they are closing their files. BUT, if I didn't agree with this decision, I should send their (very impressive/expensive looking) card back. I did so with a covering letter fully explaining my reasons; re-iterating my entitlement to a TRANSFERRED A/C (as promised!).
FOS has closed it's files BECAUSE I didn't agree with it's decision!
Please help. I have wasted 2 years in my attempts to deal with FOS!
