  • No confirmation of passing probation period

    Hi

I have a simple question really, my current employer has a 3 month probationary period, and I am now currently in my 8th month of employment there.

Despite the 3 month period having passed, I am yet to receive any written, verbal confirmation of passing my probation.

Aside of this matter, I am planning to hand in my resignation and would like to know, if I have not received any confirmation of passing my probation, will I still need to serve the full notice period before leaving.

Any information on this would be most helpful, and welcome.

    Thank you.

Re: No confirmation of passing probation period

You should really have received written confirmation that your probationary period was successful completed. The fact that you have not received anything but you are still employed and there has been no formal indication otherwise or of any extension to the probationary period would assume that everything is fine. Therefore their inaction implies that you are beyond your probationary period.

Is notice during your probationary period shorter that once this has finished? In which I suggest you try and hand in the shorter notice and indicate this is on the basis that you have had not confirmation that you have passed your probationary period and see what they say. I cannot say whether they will accept this position and push back for you to work the longer notice period.
