• Help... Letter from Lowell solicitor

Help please anyone. I received a letter at the weekend from Lowell solicitor saying I have a ccj and it's a second notice of a ccj. I called them and they won't tell me anything other than if I don't pay they will send a debt collector round. Am really worried as a working single parent alone with my son I don't want anyone scary knocking at my door. They guy said they had sent me everything but I promise I hadn't received anything and he said well tough if you don't pay we will call to collect.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Nasty little gits.

Welcome to the forum

Can you have a check on your credit file, maybe via Noddle, or look on the trustonline website to see if there is a CCJ registered against you.

You can give the court a call in the morning to find out a bit more information if nothing shows on Noddle or trustonline. You may well be able to apply to set aside the judgment so you can have opportunity to look at the claim and decide whether to defend it, negotiate or make an offer to pay.

Does the letter say at all when the Judgment was awarded against you ? ( and how much approx is it for ?)

Try not to worry we'll help you all we can.

Okay so you have a claim number, the amount and the original creditor was Vodafone. That's quite a high debt for mobile phone contract. Do you have any recollection of what it could be ?

When you ring the court ask them to what address the claim was issued. Have you moved recently ? ( or since you last had contact with Vodafone ?)

Odd they say payment required £850 - I'd guess thats arrears and means the original judgment was in default and the judge ordered installments of £50 a month. Is that 20/1/16 date the date of the original judgment?

Thank you. I did many years ago have a contract with Vodafone but I ended it at the end of contract and was told all OK. We moved 3 years ago. The date I wrote on top was the one the guy on phone said they sent the paper work to me. But I never received it am Gutted as don't know what to do as guy on phone wasn't helpful when I called her said it's my fault I didn't receive the paperwork.

Sounds like you just got a pillock. Try not to worry tonight, call court in the morning and then we can look at a set aside application and having a look at where this has come from. Just tagging leefromvodafone as he might be able to take a look from Vodafones end ( don't worry the debt is nothing to do with them anymore as they will have sold it to Lowell.

Okay failed tag lee from Vodafone;
