  • Csa harassment

Hi just wondering if anyone has run into this with the Csa, my partner has 3 grown up children, he always paid for them through the Csa and when they left education and moved out he got in touch with Csa to stop the payments, now this was a long long time ago but every couple of years they start taking money from his wages, may this year they sent a letter saying the case was closed and then in the last week or so they have sent 8 letters demanding money, his youngest is 24 with children of their own, how can they demand money every couple of years?!? He rang them and they said he failed the security questions so won't even explain anything to him, I'm at breaking point over this now and it is impacting on our child now too

Have they said why they are claiming money off him ? Is it meant to be arrears ? To me it sounds like a system cock up thats just regenerating every couple of years... but without being able to get through to speak to someone it's going to be really hard to find out.

Has his employer had any communication from the CSA at all if there's an AOE in place ?

Is there any communication between your partner and the children's mother ? and if that's reasonable, does she have any idea what's going on ?

I think a formal complaint needs making in writing ( https://www.gov.uk/child-maintenance...ts-and-appeals ) and at the same time sending them a formal Subject Access Request (DPA ) would be useful to find out what's happening ( and enabling you to put a stop to it!)

Or have you already made a formal complaint hence the 'case closed' letter ?

They spoke to me yesterday and stated that his ex owes them money so the system keeps opening the case and charging him haha, it seems until she pays what she owes it will keep happening and they say there is nothing they can do about it

          What???? that is ridiculously stupid.

What does his ex owe them money for ? - the overpayments made after they reached 18/left FOE ?

Of course there is something they can do about it. Take his AoE off the system and sort out the debt she owes directly with her. It has nothing to do with him ( well unless he hasn't been refunded for the money they took incorrectly ? )

Definately a formal complaint. ( well done for talking to them and finding that malarky out !)
