  • A word where someone lies in court and it puts doubt on their other claims?

I remember there was a word for this. It's where someone is shown to have lied in court, they become *something*, and it means that there is now doubt over other claims they've made in the testimony. Anyone recall what this word is?

I recall there is an actual legal term for this, I remember seeing the word, and then looking it up.

            Google even ???

I would guess that even if someone had liied case in the county or even the higher court it would be difficult to prove. unless it was by means of false representation

I'd like to try to give you serious answer to your question based on limited information.

Is it in relation to a civil proceedings claim (therefore possibly Contempt of Court) or Criminal proceedings?

Are you involved in court proceedings where the perceived "lie" was said in open court in which case you may need to obtain a transcript of the hearing if there was a negative outcome?

Or was the "lie" in a Witness Statement filed at court?

What are the "other claims" which you refer to? Are they linked legally in some way?

A little more background to the problem/issue would be helpful.

There's also another issue to consider which is whether the Claimant has a habit of making possible false claims (claims doomed to failure but brought out of spite etc) which could result in them being labelled a "vexatious litigant" which would/could curtail their enthusiasm for using the court process to settle their score.

Most court proceedings are recorded (not Magistrates Courts).

Transcripts of hearings are available to both parties and their legal representatives in the event an Appeal may be necessary.
