Yes in some respects you are right- it is only money but please don't let the obviously disturbing events of yesterday make you do something you may later regret - such as letting them win!

I was only pointing out that there may have been reasons why people had not been on your thread yesterday , other time commitments, waiting for you to clarify your position etc. It certainly was not because people do not care

Thank you Warwick65 for replying. You were quite right, I was so disturbed by the car crash I couldn't think straight. So I do hope someone can please advise. To bring things up to date: I completed my witness statement (to defend the claim against me); but today I have received the claimant's late witness statement. There is overwhelming proof that the debt is mine. They have finally (after almost a year) given me the information to identify this debt and was indeed moved across from another credit card by my partner at the time. As it was so many years ago I have had to go back and look at everything and could only do this now the claimant has supplied me with the details.
So, the advice I am looking for please: The court case is due in less than 2 weeks. Am I too late to make a smaller lump sum offer? Or weekly payments for the whole amount? Should I do this in a without prejudice letter? I am lost as to now go about trying to salvage a situation without obtaining a CCJ.
Please can someone help and advice me?
