  • parking ticket woes with MET parking

Hi my name is jayboy and firstly I would like to say hello.. I am new to the forum and would just like to say thanks for your time and help is really appreciated.

The reason for my post is that I received a parking ticket which I have been trying to contest so far without any success so I am wondering if I should just bite the bullet and pay or if I should carry on fighting?
The brief (as I can)story is this....
After buying the pay and display ticket at a car park (MET parking services)local to me I immediately noticed the condition of the pay and display ticket, it looked like it had been printed on an old piece of paper that clearly suffered some sort of sun damage in the past (see pic) and as I later found out not fit for purpose.
I stuck the ticket in my front window and went off for lunch.
Upon returning I noticed that the I had been given a parking ticket and on closer inspection realised that the pay and display ticket had come unstuck from the window screen and had fallen onto the seat which I can only put down to the qualities of the paper/glue
I thought that i would not have a problem getting the fine overturned due to the fact of having a valid ticket and that also printed on the ticket was my vehicle registration.
So you can imagine my surprised by the response of MET parking services who ignored my concerns about the ticket not being no longer fit for purpose and insisted that I would still have to pay the fine as the ticket was not displayed properly ?
I went on to contact popla (parking on private land appeals) and again told them of the situation along with a picture of the dodgy looking ticket only to be told again that I didn't display the ticket properly and that it was my duty to make sure that he ticket stayed in the window and again ignoring the reference to the quality of the ticket.
So my question is do I have grounds to take it further or should I pay the fine.
    any help would be appreciated...

You have followed the correct procedure and been rejected. Since it is MET you may care to read this summary and just ignore, as advised, unless they decide to take it further with a court claim.

Thank you all for you helpfull links.
with regards to ostells link and the part at the bottom about court activity.
am I right in saying that out of all of the 166,000 parking tickets issued over the last 3 years that none of those have ended up in court ! Is that normal or do they just never take it that far, Or would they send around bailiffs before it would go to court.

Re: parking ticket woes with MET parking

They sensibly don't take it as far as court as it costs them more than they recover. They appear to be happy with the money they scare out of other people. Though they do have 6 years to change their minds. They can't send bailiffs round before its been to court.

Thanks everyone for your help, was wavering as to weather I should just pay the fine and move on but after reading your links/reply I'm thinking let it ride and see where it goes .. thanks again all.

It's DRP, just ignore. They are merely debt collectors

I suspect that that is really a letter from DRP on borrowed letterhead. To be on the safe side treat it as a letter before claim and respond telling them that you are not liable, and give the reasons

Did you get a Notice to Keeper?
