Hi, just a quick question, we have been living in a flat owned by a well known private landlord for 3.5 years. Faulty boiler, Windows do now shut properly, mould and damp.in all rooms. Leaking roof, I have plenty of photos!! We have now moved out, and they are pursuing us for a month's rent, which we withheld for not doing repairs, also refuses to give us our deposit back. . We also paid for an independent surveyor to note any issues with the flat, he found loads!! We have a copy of that report. In wondering where we stand after nothing was done for that 3 years after continuous complaints regarding these issues. Is there a solicitor we could contact?

If so use the relevant arbitration scheme to sort that element of the dispute for you. It's a free service.
Check first to see which scheme it is in (if it is) and whether you are due any potential compensation if your Landlord hasn't done things by the book when registering it.
Use Shelter's Checker guide here > https://england.shelter.org.uk/housi...t_is_protected
Was there an inventory done when you moved in and again when you moved out so a comparison can be made on the 'before and after' condition?
Was the mould issue bad enough for you to have contacted the Council's Environmental Health Team?

Hi, the mould was bad, my bf being of sick with chest infections in January- March last year and the year before. The landlord just kept fobbing us off..... One of the quotes due to a leak in the roof, was "don't worry it'll be summer soon!!" I can send some photos if you like.....
