  • Claims Guys fees

I know, I know I should have done this myself but...

I signed up with the Claims Guys in November last year. I was more than happy to pay them 30% of any successful PPI claims (and I still am) but I nothing has come of any claims.

In January a work colleague told me I could submit a claim for miss-sold packaged bank accounts, which mine was because I was told I had to sign up to it to get an overdraft and mortgage.

So I submitted a claim directly to the bank online at the end of Feb, they acknowledged the claim directly to me a few days later, I got a claim reference number a few days after that then I was actually given a substantial refund last week.

So the Claims Guys have today sent me an invoice for over £700 for 'their fees' despite having nothing to do with this claim, apart from the fact that the bank sent them a copy of my upheld complaint letter.

Should I pay them? Are they entitled to this money?

Do you have a copy of the letter of authority that gave The Claims Guys your consent to speak to your bank? If so can you post it up?

The Claims Guys contracts do suggest that they cover packaged account fees but we'd need to see what the letter of authority permits them to do. If it does cover packaged account fees you might want to consider asking for a 50% discount given that they didn't do any work on the claim.
