  • Restons sent me a letter chsing old HSBC debt

Hi about 15 years about ago I had a overdraft and loan with HSBC, I got into financial difficulties and could not pay they tried really hard to bully me into signing a managed loan, I refused and they sold on account.

Marlin were chasing me so I SAR requested HSBC and they had merged my small overdraft with large loan and sold on as if it was my current account, I sent CCA request which they could not supply and they said they didn't need to as it was a current account... which is not true £400 was overdraft and about £7000 a loan.

I was paying them £50 a month I stopped as my husband got cancer and I was on maternity leave , they could not prove it and be clear to me how amount was made up that they were claiming I owed.

They have not sold to Cabot who have instructed Restons who are threatening legal action.

Shall I just fill in income/expenditure and offer to pay something or let them take it to court and I will defend that they can provide no evidence to explain the amount they say I owe.

I was making payments about 19-20 months ago so debt is not statue barred.

Please can someone advise me please.

I'm really unsure what to do
