  • CCJ from 2003 for tax enforceable?

    Hi All

Unsure if I am posting in the correct area, but I couldn't see anything like this anywhere else. when searching

I had a dispute with HMRC in 2002 and ended up with a CCJ for approximately £6000 (long story but it was a around a bankruptcy of a business). They put an attachment of earnings in place, but HMRC were still adding interest which meant the attachment wasn't paying much of the debt. I moved jobs and stop paying in around 2003. HMRC have never tried to enforce the CCJ and just send me letters now and then adding interest. They now claim I owe £10,000 approx. They are still not trying to enforce. Few questions:

Can they add interest like this?

Is this CCJ enforceable after this period?

I am bit worried they will ask to enforce it and with new powers just change my tax code at some point. Also that with interest one day in another 10+ years they come back asking for £20k etc.

    Any advice is appreciate?

    Thanks
    D
