  • Water dispute

I live in a Scotland and own my flat. The flat downstairs is rented out by a private landlord.
The main stopcock is in the downstairs flat. The present tenants have turned my water off a few times but usually put it straight back on.
This time they've turned it off and went out. Leaving me with no runing water for nearly 24hrs.
Is there anything legal I can do to get my water on?

Hi Margo from Scotland, & welcome to LB.

If it were me, I'd firstly contact the LL.
Failing that (or if it proves to be a problem), I'd contact the local authority Environmental Health dept (if that's what it is called in Scotland.)

Have you asked why they would turn off the water?
I am sure it is illegal to turn off someones water supply, but I may have it wrong so wait for others to reply.
You should check your deeds it should state about the water supply and also if you had it surveyed, the surveyor should have picked up on that.
