  • Shared Rental problems

A friend has moved into a rented place and is sharing with two other people. She paid the bond (£700) on the understanding that the other two would repay her their share (equally split) the following week. Neither of them have and have become abusive towards her when shes asked.

The rental agreement hasnt been signed yet. The bond was paid in cash and one of the others has the receipt. All she has is bank statement showing it came out of her account.

I very much doubt there is anything in writing between the three of them.

There seems to be other problems between the tenants too but not relevant to this.

Any thoughts on where she stands legally or any ideas what she can do.

Can she move out and go and find somewhere else? If so, then she should recover the bond from the Landlord in full. Given that the agreement has not yet been signed that should not be difficult to do.
