    help please in a right mess resigned and the company. Said to get me to go to them it was for 50 hrs + then got email i didnt see till this morning the company i was going to wont be ready for me till january i will know get the odd day not the 50+hrs till january do i have any rights i dont think i have a contract even.what can i do i was going to ask my old company if i could stay on an extra couple of weeks.thats all i could think of help please do i have any thing else i can do say to them help please

    I may not be understanding this correctly, but I think you resigned to go to a new job, and the job now can't start until January? I don't think there is much you can do about this. If you have a written confirmation of the start date and the hours, you may be able to insist that they pay you. But on the other hand the first 4 weeks they can dismiss you without notice and they can dismiss you at any time in the next two years for almost any reason. So you are not in a strong position to argue with them.

      Yes that is it they know wont say how many hours i will get and the start date isnt 100% i feel taken for a ride. Thanks for eplying

        In that case, sorry, but there is really nothing that you can do. If your old company would take you back, I'd go back. This new employer is not to be trusted.
