  • Restructure & Redundancy

    Hi,

I have been working at my company for 7 years. For the past 2.5 years i have been doing a role different to my contracted role. It was not an official "secondment" i was "on loan" to do the other job, which was not an official role within the business.

In April the company went through a restructure resulting in a number of redundancies and the role i am doing became an official job and i am currently waiting for the business to make a salary offer for this new role. i have not yet signed a new contract for this new role.

Now, the company have announced another re-structure, where my role no longer exists which leads me to have a few questions:

    1. Can the company create a role, then 5/6 months later make that role redundant?
    2. In terms of law, would i be considered as officially being in my new role, as i have been doing it for a considerable amount of time?
