  • Help for my son please

My son has asked me to help him re a PCN he received, Ive no experience in this field so will be grateful for advice on how to deal with the following-

On Saturday 17th September son parked in Doncaster Markets Car Park. He bought and displayed a £2 parking ticket that was due to expire at 15.37pm.

He arrived back at his car just before 15.30pm to find that a PCN had been issued at 15.25pm. His parking ticket had slipped down from the window, so he had a word the lady Parking attendant, who was only a couple of vehicles away. She was quite apologetic , said she didnt see his ticket and there was nothing she could do as she had already issued the PCN and suggested that he appeal the PCN.

I intend to help him challenge the PCN by email, but dont really know where to start, so if anyone can assist it would be greatly appreciated

Are you saying his ticket was affixed to a window or similar before it slipped? Does he still have the ticket & if so has it lost its stickiness?

          its a council ticket,
          reason - failing to display
nothing through the post, just ticket affixed to his windscreen
The traffic warden had only issued the ticket a couple of minutes before my son got back to his car and as she was only a couple of cars away straightaway my son showed the warden the ticket that had slipped down

It's gotta be worth appealing (and getting it in quick) A simple appeal with a copy of the ticket your son had purchased should be enough IMO ... although it would be an idea to wait for others to comment too xx

From Doncaster Councils website - http://www.doncaster.gov.uk/services...charge-notices
            Challenging a penalty charge notice

            1. Appeals made within 14 days

If you wish, you can contact Doncaster Council immediately after you receive the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). You should aim to do this within 14 days of receiving the PCN if you want to preserve the right to pay at the discount rate of £35 (higher rate) or £25 (lower rate). You will normally be asked to put your point in writing - you can do this in writing, or by completing the following e-form:

State your case clearly and simply. If you have evidence to support your claims such as receipts or witness statements, send these in. (We recommend that you always send copies only and hold on to the originals).
The Council will respond either accepting or rejecting your challenge. If you have appealed within 14 days of receiving the PCN and the council reject your challenge, you should be offered the chance to pay at the discounted rate.
