  • UKPC ticket for straddling two bays. Pay or appeal?

    Hi folks.

I parked my car in a UKPC managed retail car park on a Sunday morning (it's free parking). Very few people around, I parked it without paying attention to the lines and thus parked on two bays. To my surprise 10 minutes later I had a parking ticket. Reason was "Not parked correctly within the the markings of the bay or space". £100 or £60 if paid in 14 days (with a £1.50 card charge on top).

I attach a sanitised image of the ticket; should I appeal this and if so, on what grounds? Does UKPC still have its ban in place so that it can't follow up with DVLA? Seems ridiculous. I don't mind ignoring letters but I'm not willing to bear a court battle.

Advice would be much appreciated :-)

    Thanks everyone

I have heard of similar cases being defended on some simple criteria, none of which sadly may apply to you :

      1. Were the 'terms and conditions' of parking clearly displayed ( as per your ticket )?
      2. Was there adjacent 'bad parking' that have you no alternative but to park outside the line?
      3. Was there 'clear definition' that your wheel(s) were parked outside the outside edge of the while line in question?
      4. Did the terms and conditions, as displayed around the carpark, clearly state they were enforced within the time and day zone that you were seen?

I know this FPN sounds like a bummer but we all haver something to say about people that take up two bays!

Thanks Snoopy and Mystery. Will wait out the 28/56 days to see if they write in the post. Got a couple of retailer receipts too, so will attach those with appeal. Anecdotally, their website isn't accepting the fine ref # and reg plate, so one can't pay, appeal or see pics online.
