  • Excel Parking fine recieved after 3 years

    Hi can anyone help?

My parents have received a parking fine in my name to their house, this fine is dated Feb 2013. I moved out the following year.
The letter is from DPD on behalf of Excel Parking from the Peel Centre in Stockport.

The letter itself its addressed to my forename and middle name only. The letter doesn't have my surname.

When I contacted DPD they say they have been trying to contact me and that the information they have, was given to them directly from the DVLA, which clearly isn't correct, they asked if it was my car however since this date I have changed my car twice so cant actually be sure.

The fine was for £100 or £120, so they cant have been chasing otherwise I would expect it to be more??? I have contested it and they have advised it was to late, however the guy I spoke to took my email address and number and said he would look into it and get back to me.

I have heard nothing since until the weekend when my mum called and said she has received another letter. Not really sure how to move forward, are they able to chase apparent fines from over 3 years ago?

The statute of limitations is 6 years.

There is currently a surge in old tickets due to the supreme court ruling in Beavis. Beavis however, doesn't apply to all cases, and the peel centre signage wasn't, and still isn't, up to the standards set out in Beavis either.

I would say that any letter which is not a letter before claim/action or a court claim should be ignored.
