  • New for Old/Betterment

    Hi all,

Does anyone know where I could find the legislation regarding betterment/new for old?

A former landlord is attempting to withhold almost two hundred pounds from a deposit for 9 year old curtains worth approximately £20!

Page 12 of the DPS guide says it's "an established legal principle".

Your own scheme, if not DPS, will have similar guide on its website. If your landlord won't take any notice when you point this out, just dispute with the scheme. I doubt they would even be worth £20 after 9 years.
