  • Strothers Lane, Inverness Parking Charge Help Please

    Hi- need some advice please.

I have just received a debt letter from DRP regarding a parking ticket issued at Strothers Lane, Inverness by Smart Parking. I have appealed with Smart Parking as I hold a purchased ticket for the parking on this day but I got a couple of the letters wrong on the registration input as it was a new vehicle. Smart Parking have rejected this as they say it is clearly sign posted and my fault. I have also phoned DRP and they have just told me I can not appeal any further as there is no appeal service in Scotland except for council tickets and I just have to pay - the very rude lady then hung up on me. What should I do now, the last letter says they will take me to court if I haven't paid by 01/07/16.

File everything in a drawer and ignore anything that is not court papers. After 5 years, any potential cause of action would be prescribed (expire).

They want money, they don't wish to listen to anything else and you don't want to pay.

If it's in Scotland and they do not know the name of the driver then they can do nothing so ignore. Does the letter mention POFA ( Protections of Freedoms Act) ? If it does then they are being naughty as POFA does not apply in Scotland. Take it to Trading Standards.
