Hi all, First off I've been working in my current job for 18 months now and there's a lot of things going on that I believe are illegal or bad practice and i was wondering what action / rights do i have regarding them. My role is a permanent night's supervisor for a shipping firm in a 24 hour operation and our shift is 10pm to 6am. We start Sunday with 1 rest night midweek and every Saturday night off - making it 40 hours. #1 I was wondering if I can opt out of working Sundays with me being on nights? #2 There has never been provision of health and safety gear (boots/high visibility clothing) which is a requirement for the factory we work in, so we have provided our own at our own expense. I have asked about them repeatedly about provision of PPE and my concerns are always fobbed off. #3 Holiday pay was originally paid at full basic rate but recently they have changed it (to an average of hours worked the previous 12 weeks) without notifying us in writing - they actively encouraged us to take non-paid leave because it was quiet at work and then changed holiday pay saying it was paid wrongly in error. I could never verify this though as I never actually received a written statement / contract of employment until i was in employment for over 12 months. #4 I have only ever received my pay slip once prior to my wages entering my account, my last payslip was over a week late. #5 Since the operation is 24 hours and the work is the same around the clock, is there any reason as a night shift supervisor I should get less basic rate pay than the day shift supervisor? The only reason being the day shift supervisor has been there longer- (my company does not pay shift allowance / any overtime rate (inc bank holidays) or sunday/unsociable hours rate) Any help on any of the points above would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Anon
