  • Civil Enforcement Ltd - Letter Before Action

    Hi Beagles,

I am hoping you can give me some guidence on a matter relating to a letter we received a while back from Civil Enforcement Ltd stating thay ot os a letter before action relating to a parking fine that we haven't paid.

Apparently on the 23rd March this year our car was parked in a local car park without a ticket displayed in accordance with the terms.

In all honestly, we don't remember the exact incident, and definitely don't remember receiving a parking ticket on the vehicle, but that aside, we have received this letter, and before responding to them wanted to get an idea of what this letter means, and the implications of ignoring it.

They are stating "pre action conduct & protocol" which doesn't mean a whole lot to me, and then go on to quote legal precedent in the case "PrivateEye Ltd v Beavis".

The following pages are Draft Particulars Of Claim where they are requesting fine plus fees!

I am loath to engage with them, but obviously don't want to get pulled through the courts for a petty fine that could be avoided.

    Any advice is welcomed

    Many thanks

    OJB
