  • help tax credits

Hi, posting for some advice for a neighbour.

She is a single mum to 5 kids in receipt of income support and child tax credit. She is currently signed off of job seekers due to severe depression.
she has had several letters regarding an apparent over payment from tax credits that relates to a previous joint claim, (joint claiment now in prison due to domestic abuse)

She has unfortunately buried head in sand and ignored these letters.
her tax credits were due today but only £100 went in instead of £800 she phoned them only to be told they had taken it to repay the over payment and next month it will go back to normal.
she is left with no money for heat or food for the family.

    Any advice please. Thanks
