    Re: Another Council tax Problem

    Hi terry.

I dont think he ment it in that way. more about how fast and what action they can take. Mail order and credit cards debts can be dealt with easyer than ct.

That what i advised puts the desision in the hands of the head officer thats responcable for the proper administration of finances.. paying ypur current years ct plus 25% of your debt per year, if ypur finances would allow that, and complaining that using baillifs will just oncrease your debt, makes it very hard for them to justify action.

Explain ypur finances properly in the letter. Be honest about your other debts. If they refuse a reasonable affordable offer. Post up tjere responce here.
crazy council ( as in local council,NELC ) as a member of the public, i don't get mad, i get even

Unfortunately, regardless of who it is addressed to, the chances of having the s151 Officer consider the individual case is zero.

Otherwise, the basis on which CC suggests you make an offer sounds sensible.

It is important to note, without being scary, that you can only be sent to prison for council tax debt for "wilful and culpable" failure to pay - if you can show you are doing all you can to deal with it, that is a defence to any committal proceedings.

I will repeat that I think few of us could afford to pay £1,200 pm.
