• Finally getting somewhere Parental assessment

Can someone help. I have finally gotten the case with my son taken to care proceedings they deem hes not safe. So they are now assessing all adults . So Social Services have set out dates for me and my parnter. I am slightly concerned as they want the first 4 meetings to be with me alone. This is not something I like... I don't trust the social now and they have ignored a lot of things. I don't feel comfortable does anyone know if legally im allowed to have someone present?

They are now assessing if they can make a case to take the child away from the family . Apologies but cynical me is here. Parental assessments are allowed under the law.

Here is a factsheet from the NSPCC on parental assessments: http://www.nspcc.org.uk/globalassets...g-capacity.pdf

The problem you have with social services is this: If you refuse it then they win. If you state you don't trust them then they use that against you(unwilling to work with professionals), and if you turn up then they might use it against you. You are damned, however, remember throughout the whole process that it is about what is in the best interests of the child.

The factsheet is pretty good. Just a quick reference Kati: you know I am completely and utterly biased in this process because of family stuff that has more or less ended. I would add that I would wait for others as well to advise because of my clearly anti social services bias.
If this case any further than parental assessments and you do not have legal counsel then please do let me know via jungle drums, ie site team know how to get hold of me if I am not on here that much

I know  ... but you were advising before, and I knew you'd know where to look for advice
