Misleading Online advert / small claims

I've stumbled onto this website, so please excuse me if this isn't an appropriate place / question.

I have been looking for a car to buy and found an advert on gumtree. The advert proclaimed '100% No Rust', and speaking to the seller he claimed that there was no rust, and that the paint was original and in good condition.

I appointed a car inspection by an extremely professional firm who sent a full portfolio of photos as well as their opinion. The car was rusty (a large hole in one of the sills, as well as other places) and the car had also recently been resprayed (the vendor knew this) and to a poor standard (crazing / flaking).

I'm obviously not about to buy the car so no real harm done, but I#m annoyed that I was mislead and wondered if I had any grounds for making a claim against the seller for the cost of the inspection? Would anyone be able to advise?

Sorry, but IMO you have no grounds for claiming.
The vehicle was offered for sale (privately I assume) and very sensibly you had it checked.
If you had purchased the vehicle on the strength of the advert and without inspecting it, you would then have had grounds.
I do appreciate you wouldn't have even considered the vehicle if the description had been more accurate.

Just be satisfied you were cautious and acted sensibly.
