Bank of England forced to deny 'false rumours' of HBOS crisis that shook stock market

Britain's financial watchdog launched an investigation tonight after false rumours swept the market that a major lender was in crisis. The Financial Services Authority intervened following a vehement denial by the Bank of England that it has been called into emergency meetings with HBOS
