  • Parking Eye Threats

Can someone help me with this please? On 8th April I visited Sunderland eye hospital and thought I would be there a short while so paid fo 2 hours parking. It turned out that I needed emergency eye surgery to save the sight in my right eye. I asked a member of staff how I stand reference car parking and was told "no problems there, you just pay the difference at the machine before you leave". Once I had been discharged I paid an additional charge at the machine to make up a 4hr stay, in fact I overpaid by £1:30 (£5:30 in total) as it was £4 for 4 hours. When I left the car park, their camera clocked my time in the car park as 3hrs and 59minutes and they demanded I pay £70.00. I feel that this is completely wrong as I have already paid for my stay at the hospital.
I have completely ignored their demand so far but I am now getting worried as they are threatening me with a credit reference agency!
can someone please advise me as to the best way forward?
    thanks in advance.

CRA can only record it if you lose and don't pay.

If you have paid, particularly if you can prove it, you should tell them they've made a mistake. Also contact the hospital too.

I reckon that 2 separate payments might be an issue for them but it clearly says "the new system means they can top up their tariffs on exit" on the website.

      Re: Parking Eye Threats

Thanks for your help M1. I have both parking tickets and a picture of their tarrif sign which also states that a top up can be made before exiting. I will scan my tickets and send it to them explaining they have made a mistake and also contact the hospital as you have suggested.
      Thanks for your help.
