Ignore - The heading is just their attempt to make a formal withoutprejudice offer, meaning you wouldn't beable to produce a copy of this letter in court without their consent - Well thats what they like to think anyway.

      So ignore.

Re: 1st RLP letter received and I've visited CAB as well.

            Good morning,

Apologies for not providing any further updates - they may have been helpful to some viewers/posters on LB. The last time I received a letter was in August 2015 (one more following the most recent letter I mentioned in this thread) but as you might have imagined, due to the lack of updates, no further letters from RLP or any associated scaremongers were received and that's been the case ever since.

I'm very thankful to all who replied to this thread providing advice and calming words and to anyone viewing this who is going through something similar, I hope this post can help you and provide you with a timescale of what to expect and how long it might continue.

P.S. I now make sure to keep hold of my receipts until I've left a store and I also avoid shopping at that particular store, which has been beneficial long-term as I've discovered lovely local markets!

            All the best, LB.

Re: 1st RLP letter received and I've visited CAB as well.

Basically a couple of weeks ago I was caughty shoplifting at Boots and it was a silly thing for me to do. I was taken to the back and the security guard spoke to me disgustingly even though I apologised profusely and offered to pay for the items which came up to less than £20. The police were not involved and they received the goods stolen back and he just banned me for 2 years and took my details, he didn't mention anything about RLP. I now have received a letter from RLP for £190 and I am scared can they take me to court or get debt collectors to my house???

Both of you:- The advice that is still relevant is IGNORE IGNORE

There has been no loss and it cost RLP dearly when they took people to court in Oxford, search for it. They got a flea in their ear from the judge for trying it on.

There are many cases on this forum where eventually they just give up. You may get an offer of a reduced sum to settle the matter but IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE.

They have no legal authority to make any claim, they just rely on people being frightened by the legal speak and paying up when there is no requirement to do so.

Have you read post #35 ?

I've an update regarding this matter. Received a letter from Capital Resolve on behalf of the RLP.

My approach will remain the same (ignore). But if anyone reads the letter attached and feels differently, please let me know - for example, if there's been any legislation changes or something like that. It's been around 18 months since this first started, they're still offering a reduced fee/settlement offer!

(Based on those recent posts above I'd imagine nothing has changed)

They have been trying for a long time!
How many firms would hold off court action for 18 months and then write begging letters for money, any money or threaten we will have to consider further action , including litigation if they actually had a case?
I suppose the other action they might consider will be filing the matter and saving themselves postage costs, cos' there's nowt else they can do.
                                Yes continue ignoring!
