  • Paying off defaulted account

Hello, I had an account that defaulted back in 2008 therefore not now showing on my credit file. I still pay the debt every month and want to pay it off. I can only afford to partially settle the debt. If i do this and make a partial settlement which would close the account will it then show on my credit file for another 6 years as partially settle?

    Re: Paying off defaulted account

    Hi Welcome,

Once an account is removed from the credit files it cannot be put back nor can it cause you any other problems. such as court action more than 6 years after the default date.

How much is still owing, are you getting statements at least once a year.

I don't condone debt avoidance but here you could probably stop paying.
