Abbey "system error" causes interest charges: Please check your statements

I have been asked to make Abbey customers aware that on their February statements that an error has been made with regards to interest being charged on their account. Please check your statements carefully and if there is a query please contact Abbey. The information that has been given to me is that they are not fully aware of the number of people affected and are offering interest refunds as a result of this system error.
