New Look, New Services & New Name Posted on March 19, 2015

Easter is just around the corner as is the Summer rush there are already a number of exciting changes to our websites and company planned for this season. To start with all of our websites within the month are set to become more mobile friendly and compatible with mobile phones and tablets.

This will assist in further in growing our market share and offering our services to a wider portion of the market which we have been slow to penetrate. Additional services we will soon be offering will include a collection service from all 7 Passport Offices saving consumers the need to waiting 4hrs to receive their new passport when using the Premium Service.

As well as the pilot of our new Submission Center which will be located in areas where there are no regional Passport Office near by. Applicants who live in Cornwall, Devon for example currently have to take the day off work and incur travel and potentially accommodation expenses far in excess of the 117.60 service fee that we charge to lodge their passport.

With our new Express Passport Service applicants will simply need to visit our local office, submit their documents paying both our service fee and the passport fee for it then to be posted to our London address where an agent will lodge it at the Victoria Office the following day using the Premium 1 Day service. If successful we plan to roll out multiple submission centers in areas throughout 2015 in areas that are far from a local HMPO office.

And finally we’re excited to be simplifying one of our trading names to stop confusing applicants who live in Northern Ireland who are unsure whether we can provide them with assistance.

The trading name “British Passport Services” confused many of those in Ireland as they are not part of Britain and so a decision has been made to phase out the BPS trading name and replace it with a universal UK Passport Services and UK Services trading names which will be brought in in due course. This we believe with help increase our Irish sales and allow us to put the additional income put towards our first Submissions Centre in Ireland, saving Irish consumers from travelling all the way to the Belfast office to receive a 1 week or 1 day passport.

aww how kind of them removing the confusion for consumers from Ireland.

Irish customers? Irish Customers go to Dublin Mr Howard, those in the Province of Northern Ireland as opposed to the Irish Republic (Eire) go to Belfast. Mr Howard the Province measures 80 miles x 30 I believe, Michael Collins actually thought it would implode as being too small to be viable, but for Edward Carson drawing a line around Londonderry so giving it a second main city it probably would have.... So anyway, I digress, you might 'save' people having to travel to Belfast, but to be honest most would get off their arses as pay you £117 pounds (not Euro Richard, they still use Sterling there)...... You see the Irish, contrary to all those jokes you remember Richard, are actually smart....:tongue2:

Home rule was granted in the 1920's however, the idea was the Irish Free State would have dominion status. Collins simply created an incompatible constitution (ie a Republic) and made that continuance to be non viable. Eamon De Valera finally declared it a full republic I think in 1936

He's counting on his actions being legal if totally unethical... He takes the view that he can pitch a service and then attach a charge to it plus terms and conditions that prevent you from changing your mind, followed by swift civil action.
Question is.... If I want to charge you £117 for phoning a taxi for you when you could do it yourself, is that legal? Even if I have misrepresented myself to make you think I was the taxi company in the first place?
Simple answer.. If the consumer agrees to pay a price for a service (even if totally outrageous and unjustifiable in price) then I suspect legal. The method he uses to acquire his... er customers definitely muddy.... Definitely could be defended in a civil court but I honestly wonder if they are as stand a breach of criminal? Look, if you go back to last December when this popped up the first posts were almost benign amusement... Not now.... I think there could be a dirty great hole in consumer law that needs a bloody great plug to stop this, if Howards Way became the norm then the internet could become riddled with these traps, this is a bloody great minefield that is being laid before our eyes

So that'll give him a nice bit of leverage: pay up or we'll keep hold of your passport.

I wonder if he's secured a formal arrangement with HMPO?
