Lowell portfolio (Bryan Carter)court claim

hi,
I received a court claim form, claimant - Lowell portfolio.
I took some advice from post on legal beagles and posted letters:CPR to their solicitors, CCA to Lowell and SAR to Welcome Finance.
So far only received a letter from solicitors saying that I should refer to my own records and that their client is not agreeable to an extension for filing my defence. I ignored it and sent the acknowledgement form asking for 28 days.
I am running out of time and need to prepare my defence and not sure how to do it.
Any templates?

Can you provide more details please of what this claim is about?

A dated timeline of events would be very helpful.

It is about the Welcome Finance debt I took in May 2006. Stopped paying in Nov 2008 as added charges for late payments(phone calls, letters) made it impossible to pay off. Court claim was issued on 17th April. I sent letters on 29th, recorded post. The amount Lovell claims it's more than double what I think I owe.
