old hsbc debt

hi new to all this so please bare with me being chased for a debt of 13k by mkrr. original debt was with hsbc who sold debt to mkrr I have done a bit of research on this site and think I have worked it out, I have not paid or acknowledged this debt since july 2007 there is no ccj against this debt and the default fell off my credit report jan this year am I right in thinking this debt is now statute barred. I understand that the debt still exists but is unenforceable in court please tell me I am right, thanks to all those who share there knowledge
