  • Received county claim form section 69. How to defend, please help?

    Hello.
Yesterday I received a Claim form from xxx County Court.
The claimant claims interest on salary under section 69 of county courts act 1984.

Basically, my situation is: My Ltd company had a contract with a Ltd company providing services for local councils last year.
There were self employed people working through my company.
One person worked for me for 2 weeks and then resigned without signing the contract.
I explained that I will pay the salary when I receive money from the Ltd council's company.
But this company postponed payment to three months for various reasons, I have all the correspondence and bank statement.
And now the person states that because I did not pay straight away, they had to resign and in the claim they ask for interest of 8% for the period of three months which comes to around 600£.
Well because I am really struggling with funds (personal reasons), and myself received a late payment, I think it was unjust to me, as I also paid fair salary to workers (same as mine). Is there any way I can defend this amount?
Otherwise it will put me into greater debt burden. Any help appreciated.

    Regards,
    PV

Yes they did the job, but we agreed that everyone will receive the money when councils pay.
So I paid the next day I received council's payment. that was a week ago.

I know I am not in favor, because of my Ltd company.
