  • Parking Fine and Baliffs from £35 > £450

    Hi All

Another one from me, So I had a parking fine from a long time ago, two Xmas’s ago, I had a letter this Jan, perhaps just before Xmas. Anyway saying I owed X amount for the parking fine, this is the first I heard about it.
Anyway that I had a letter from a baliff saying I owed money etc Although Like I suggest I gave me about a week from the first letter to this Baliff letter, When I chased it all up to see where I was up to, The Baliff said I owe £450 from a £35 parking fine originally.

Does this seems seriously Excessive, to say that when I spoke to the Baliff he had never even been to my house it was just an initial letter as far as I am aware.
Do you think I can query this before he does turn up at my house and try and put more charges on. And should I expect this to be this high charge or what?

Bit anxious on this one as it would swallow my wages up when I get paid Friday, and had a letter from the courts saying my application for a late witness statements was rejected, not sure on what grounds as I had never seen any fine previously.

Did you know about the original ticket? When did you appeal it?

I've just called them and because I queried this it has gone to £120 so I may just pay this so It does pose a problem for me and inccur further charges.

Have to say £120 sounds about right. Approx £107 for the ticket & £11-20 +Vat = £13-44 for the letter.

Is the bailiff employed by Equita, or by Ross & Roberts?

            Which council is it?

First question: is it a Distress Warrant issued by a Magistrate Court or is it a Warrant Of Execution issued by Northampton County Court Traffic Enforcement Centre?

Second question (three parts): do you remember getting the ticket? And what exactly the alleged offence was? Who gave you the ticket a Traffic Warden or a Police Officer?

The letter that told you that now you owe £450.00, was it through the post (as in Royal Mail) or hand delivered?

Once you tell us then I can tell you if you were overcharged or not

A warrent of exicution etc , no i never recived the ticket in person and i think the letter said hand delivered. Ive not done anything whats so ever about it as i think its completly unjustified to expect someone to pay £500 parking fine that im not even sure if its ligit ?

Any random person would not come to your house demanding money.

My advice is that you call the telephone number on the letter and ask for clarification, but £512.00 sounds about right for an unpaid parking fine that has gone to Enforcement.
