  • Halifax....frozen my money

    Hello everyone need some advice ....on Tuesday 17th Dec I phoned Halifax to stop a continuous card payment for mini credit a payday loan company as im now under a debt consolidation plan ...on weds mini credit took £25 from my account which was refunded on sat ....on Friday when my wages went in mini credit took further payments for £240...£100....and £50 ....i have phoned the bank every day and told different storys every time I've rang ...i eventually phoned the card disputes on Saturday to be told it would be refunded within 24 hours ...checked my bankthis morning and still NO refund ....phoned again only to be told that the money is frozen although its showing as left my account....i spoke to the bank and said that the payment should of been blocked asap and not even left ...im now in a situation where my rent comes out on the 27th and I've not enough in my bank to cover this ...im a working single mum and extremely worried now as they have told me it could take up to 5 working days to claim my money back ...but surely it should never of left my account!! Any help please ....

    Speak to the bank tomorrow and state that they are in breach of the Payment Services Regulations since the CPA was cancelled(continuous Payment Authority or CPA) and that you have rent going out. You should state that you want them to give you a temporary overdraft to cover the rent going out since their mistake might mean that you will not only not have enough money to cover your rent but might face overdraft charges directly because of the banks' own mistake.

      Follow up any telephone conversation with a confirmatory letter. You wouldn't want them to 'forget' what they've said, would you?
