Is there a solicitor who will act in the recovery of my asset? should I report it to the police? Should I take criminal action, bring it to public attention

I have had some personal experience dealing with the SRA but cannot give you any advice without more details about your complaint.

Obviously you believe you have an issue with a solicitor that needs investigating and if your claim is worth more than what the maximum compensation limit is for the SRA then you need a solicitor to look into it for you. If the solicitor finds issues that need reporting to the SRA then they will do that for you.

Please try to give as much information here as you feel is necessary and I will try to help you.

It does depend on what it is. The SRA has a Fraud Intelligence Unit that works closely with police forces.
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.

Have you considered going to the Legal Ombudsman?

The LO is the right way to go but first the OP must first request their files from the solicitor.

If the solicitor refuses to release the files then you have to make a formal written complaint to the firm of solicitors to which they have 7 days to acknowledge the complaint and up to 8 weeks to respond to the complaint before the LO will get involved.

I am currently in the process of doing the same thing now with regards to my own case.

              Hello and to Legal Beagles.

Can you tell us a bit more about what is the basis of your grievance against your solicitor?

As EXC says you should be able to resolve this issue through the Legal Ombudsman (a free redress system) if you became "aware" of the problem within the last 12 months. Here's how to progress your complaint:

                  Re: Solicitors regulation authorities

Broadly the Legal Ombudsman deals with service issues and the Solicitors Regulation Authority handles conduct issues. Where complaints to the Ombudsman contain elements of questionable conduct they are automatically forwarded to SRA, at least in theory.

Apologies for not responding earlier as I was not in a position to account my situation This matter as been going on from 2002 -2009 and being defrauded by 3 solicitors to of which 2 intervention was carried out. It involves 4 sales 2 purchases and 2 remortgages.I now realize I was subjected to ID fraud and the fraudulent action by solicitors.I was not able to deal with this matter to to my mental condition.
I have been waiting for Sra caseworker and was told it will sometime in January. A few days ago I received an email that it was not me being referred in the finding and close the case. They have not asked for any document or accounts. The information correspond to my transaction and it clearly matches there finding.I consider there behaviors with contempt as this as being going from 2002 i was never contacted.

I recently requested my file but was told to pay £50 +vat which i had to laugh as there is large monies not accounted for they seem to answer my question. Final letter going out and delivered by hand.
I sent a letter six month to another solicitors to address a letter which was sent 2010 and stated they have no knowledge of the letter and even stated it was sent recorded and continue to deny, polite letter will be sent by hand why they haven't responded to my letter 6 months ago its now will be used as evidence as failure to follow instruction failure to progress. They failed to have the judgement set aside and suffered severe loss on a property transaction the good news another solicitor purchase that property which there is conflict of interest
