  • Default from september 2010

    Hi all

Can anyone help advise me please?
I have a default on a Tesco credit Card dated 15/09/2010
I am currently paying this off at £50 a month with Robinson Way - current balance £2683 so looking at around 4 1/2 years until paid off.
My question is this......as this wont be paid off until more than 6 years from default date will it stay on my credit file until cleared or will the default be removed after 6?
If the default is removed how will the payments look on my credit file?
I only started paying this back after a lengthy gap last April 2012. Will it stay as default for 6 years from April?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi and welcome to LB!

The default will stay on your file for 6 years regardless of whether you pay or not. It will drop off after 6 years, also regardless of any payments you make.

Was this card taken out before April 2007 by any chance?

Yes it was probably taken out around 2000.
      Why do you ask?
      Thanks for your help.

Because of a change in the law that applies to accounts started after that date. If it was me, I'd be sending out a CCA request to see whether there is an enforceable agreement (or any agreement, given the age of the account). :thumb:
