  • Cancellation Chrges

I went on the comparison site and found a better deal for my gas/electricity. To be honest I had been pst off with N/Power for some time, you can never get though to their customer services etc.

So I switched, got a call from N/power today asking if I was aware that there was a premature cancellation charge on my plan, well no i wasn't to be honest, she wanted me to go back and I had a hell of a problem getting her off the phone so I could check the situation out.

Went on line and got the contract up, and she was right there is, so i rang the new supplier and told them the situation, they asked if I was in arrears, I am not I am in fact in credit.

He asked if I had cancelled my direct debit yet, I said no, he said to do it straight away otherwise they would take the charge , and once they had it I would never get it back.

I had a google around and there is quite a bit of controversy at the moment about the legality of these charges, I wondered if anyone else had any experiences.

In addition I recently received a notification that my gas price was about to increase, I would have thought the contract would work both ways.
