Hi,I have posted on here before about a problem I had with Philips, now having rejected a payment plan I proposed they told me to make voluntary payments which I have been doing paying £100 a month, I haven't heard from them since I phoned just after New Years. However today a bailiff knocked on my door saying I had to pay off the outstanding balance of £50 otherwise they would add more charges even suggesting I borrow the money from family or get a loan. My question is why have the waited until I've got one payment left before charging me hundreds of pounds more? I'm a single mum of two on benefits and the stress of this is starting to make me ill.

    Re: Collectica

Philips or Collectica, as they now call themselves, hold an OFT Category F Debt Collection Licence and, as such, are required to comply with OFT Debt Collection Guidelines. Failure to do so can lead to the OFT imposing requirements on the licence or refusing to renew or revoking the licence. As such, they cannot force you to pay more than you can realistically afford and cannot refuse to accept any reasonable proposal of repayment. Suggesting you borrow from family or get a loan is a serious breach of OFT regulations.

Firstly, what is or was the debt for and, secondly, who is the creditor, please?

Once this information is to hand, it should then be easier to help you.
